Last Day

Holy Hell.

Today is my last day of my first year of teaching.

HOW ON EARTH did it get here so fast? I cannot believe it is already over. There were many ups and downs and thoughts that this day would never EVER be here...but looky here.

here it is.

I remember when I first got the teaching job and my life totally took a shoot upward. I was so excited and filled with determination.

Then there was the 1st day that I was scared of and that I sweated through.

There were days that were hard and days that made me flat out laugh out loud.

and now we are here. the last day.

Dear Students,
What a year this has been. I have enjoyed each of you this year. Some more than others. But i have loved all of you. Thank you for making this first year, one I will never forget. We have laughed, cried, hugged and been angry together. We truly are a family and I am so blessed that each of you have been in my life. Don't worry little ones, I will have you again next year since we loop, so this really isn't a good bye, just a see you in the fall.

Weekend on a Wednesday?

Well Hello wednesday!

I like you much better as the second day of a work week! You get here so much quicker!

So today is our field trip. We are going to a cave about 45 ish minutes from school. They are going to get to hike, explore and 'mine' for treasures.

They are stoked. I am praying it doesn't rain. Wet & sweaty 3rd graders smell much like wet dogs.

anywhooooos I thought i'd catch you up on my weekend...and Wednesday is the perfect day to do it.
Pretty much I am a slacker...

My weekend--
{1} D & I hit the gym Friday night before heading out to dinner with friends
{2} pack pack pack my room (I am almost done)
{3} Hy-Vee salad bar for lunch on Saturday
{4} I took D for froyo in the afternoon

Saturday evening was D's cousin's wedding
D with Haven literally melts my heart and makes me happy happy girl.

{1} Rocked my new Kimono from TJ Maxx to lunch on Sunday
{2} Lunch consisted of Lamberts #NOMNOM (I want to point out that when i wanted all the fried chicken & taters and all the other bad stuff, i got grilled chicken, green beans and apple sauce--and HAD ONE roll. GO ME. I did a few fried okras, but only  few #healthywin)
{3} Hit the gym early Monday morning for a Memorial Day Workout
{4} My American Flag Scarf fro Khols 

There ya have it.

Tough it Out Tuesday {the not so glamorous side}

HELLLLO friends!

Did everyone have a great weekend? I hope you all got three days too. Today is the first day of my LAST week of my first year of teaching (say that three times fast)

YAHOOOOO :) We have many fun things planned this week (field trip, field day etc etc) I am ready for summer but i must say i will miss those faces!

ANYWAYS since it is Tuesday I am obvi linking up with Allie & Kay for Tough it Out Tuesday. Last week I shared some of my successes so far.

but with all highs there comes some lows.
Let me tell ya, there are some lows.

here are a few of the less glamorous things that happen when you start working out/getting on the healthy train

*these may be graphic/gross...if you are not interested then click away now.*

{1} Asparagus pee. If you have ever eaten asparagus, then you know what I am talking about. Healthy green veggies have their downfalls.

{2} Boob Sweat. Yeah this is normal, i get it. But when your girls are on the larger side...yikes. and honestly, just sweat in places you didn't know you could sweat.

{3} You will be sore, all the time. Yeah, 'sore is the new sexy' but when i hobble to the bathroom because my calves and ankles hurt...not so sexy.

{4} Meal Prep. yeah i love to organize & plan so meal planning sounds awesome. But when you get down to it, on Sunday nights I wanna snuggle on the couch, not cook up a pound of turkey sausage and cut up veggies galore.

{5}Washing your hair. ALL THE EFFFING TIME. Now I sweat like a man, so this could be the issue but i feel like I have to wash my hair errrr day now because of all the sweat and nastiness of the workout.

BUT hey, it's worth it right :)

I hope everyone is enjoying this weather & holiday weekend! We just got done with lunch with D's family. I'm taking a much needed rest day bc my legs are dying! But I am here to share my workouts from the week!

3.5 miles on treadmill
5 x 12 chest press 
3 x 12 shoulder raises (front)
3 x 12 shoulder raises (side)
5 x 12 lat pull down
5 x 12 tricep press

Tuesday: 1 hour Zumba class 

Wednesday: rest

Thursday: rest

Friday: 2.5 miles on treadmill
5 x 12 hip adduction (innerthigh) 
50 squats 
5 x 12 calf extension
5 x 12 seated leg curl
5 x 12 leg extension 

Saturday: 3.5 miles on treadmill
100 regular crunches 
50 lower ab raises
3 x 12 fire hydrants ( per leg )
3 x 12 donkey kicks ( per leg )

I didn't lift as much as I wanted to, but it seemed we needed to be places every day after workouts so I cut done short! Next week is a new week though!

Dear Friday


hollllla for a three day weekend!
i will take that any and all times, please & thank you.

We still have four days next week, but this time next week it will be MY last day! EEEEEK :)
Summertime,  i am comin' for ya.

But anyways since it is friday I am writing letters.

Dear Weekend, good lord I have needed you. I have many plans in store for you that include sleeping in, naps, & working out.

Dear Class, You have been a little cray this week but I am going to miss you this summer. I am glad that I will be seeing you again in the fall for fourth grade (we loop, which means we have the same class for 3rd and 4th grade)

Dear Texas, I cannot wait to visit you!! THREE WEEKS!!!

Dear Gym, I had such a good run at you yesterday. It was marvelous and I am ready for some time together this weekend!

Dear Sweet Haven, you are too precious for words. Watching D hold you makes my heart so full. He is such a proud uncle.

Dear BRAVO, I am sorry I have been neglecting you and the only time i seem to watch you is when I am running. I promise I have not forgotten you!

Okay but WHY

happy friday EVE :)

I can see the weekend on the horizon! We can make it!

So the other day the lovely Tay wrote this post and it made me laugh, so duh I had to steal errr i mean borrow it :)

Okay but WHY...

... do i pray for snow days knowing that I have to make them up...i would have been done with school TODAY had it not been for the snow days.

... i crave chocolate everyday to the point of insanity when i am killing myself with workouts

... does the nice-ness of weather make my students coo-coo

... do i still put my phone in my back pocket when it has narrowly escaped a toilet bath multiple times because i forget that it's in there

...are the weeks so long but the weekends so short

... do i come to work looking like a normal human, but when i look in the mirror on the way home, i look like tornado vicitm

But why?

Wednesday Confesh Sesh

Well Wednesday!

Is anyone else glad this week is about half over with. I am ready for a three day weekend of relaxing with my cute man & hanging out with the a few beverages :)

anyways, this teacher is ready for summer vacay (i bet you never guessed that....) but before my kiddos come racing in I have a few confessions--

+ I may have bought lobster pjs. They were too cute to pass up.

+ I have a countdown on my desk of how many days til summer (7 school days if you were wondering)

+ I have a to-do list for the REST of the year done with categories and all

+ I have become obsessed with yogurt & granola for breakfast & desserts

+ I may have been a super sensitive grouchy brat yesterday morning, I am so lucky dave doesn't get annoyed with me easily

+ I am wanting to take  rest day today, but am forcing myself to the gym & taking a rest day tomorrow #summerbod

Tough it Out Tuesday {Successes}


didya miss me yesterday?
I had such a wonderful weekend. It was busy yet relaxing which means I didn't get any posts done...

BUT I am here today to share a few things with you. I have been working my hiney off at the gym and trying to get my meals better and i am starting to see it pay off!

I still struggle, don't get me wrong. 3 outta 4 times I dont wanna go to the gym, but more & more I am just forcing myself to go and i am ALWAYS glad i did it.

SO here are some victories in my fitness/health world.

{1} I have officially since January 13th lost 20lbs. My short term goal is 30 by my bday (July 13th)

{2} I have ran (straight with ZERO stops) a 5k. This is HUGE for me. I started running in February. I could barely make it 5 minutes with out a stop and now I am going over 30 minutes without a stop.

{3} I walked into Charlotte Russe, tried on shorts (NOT IN THE LARGEST SIDE THEY CARRY BTW) and they fit. There was no stretching them out first, no muffin top, NOTHING. they fit amazingly and were actually just a smidge loose.

{4} My fave pair of jeans that NEVER go in the dryer (hello shrinkage and muffin top) were accidentally coughDAVEcough & when i went to squeeze into them, they slid right on and are actually baggy!!

{5} All of D's tshirts I used to borrow that would fit normally are all WAY to big to wear in public.

I'm here to share my workouts from this past week! I made it four days this week! I have a little bit of pain in my upper hip so im taking today off! I added 15lbs to my hip adduction & I think maybe I strained it... But taking it easy today!

3.5 miles on treadmill
100 regular crunches 
50 hip raises (lower abs)
50 heel touches
2 45 second planks
3 x 12 fire hydrants (per leg)
3 x 12 donkey kicks (per leg)

Tuesday: 1 hour Zumba class

Wednesday: rest

Thursday: rest

Friday: 3.5 miles treadmill

Pit & Peak



this has been  such a long week and I am dying for a morning to sleep in.
Just gotta make it until 3pm.
I can do it.

anyways since this has been such a long week I thought I'd share some pits & peaks.

Let's get the bad stuff outta the way first.

* The fact that this has been a looooooong week. It literally feels like it has lasted FOREVER.

*They are re-doing the windows in the classrooms in our hallway so that means we have to pack up our entire rooms into boxes. I have made my to-do lists and have boxes but I can only pack so much because I have to teach for another two's driving me nuts to have half a room packed.

 *I went over on my data. I suck. I have no wifi @ school.... It's annoying.

* We finished MAP testing this week! THANK GOD!!!

* I tried out 2 new recipes and they turned out AH-Mazing! Even D they were healthy!

*After today I have 9 school days left until summer!!! I CAN DO IT!

3:00pm cannot come soon enough!

THE LAST DAY OF MAP....hollllla

I am SO SO ready for this week to be over. Next week is our last full week.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is ALMOST summer break.

anywhoooooos I thought I'd bring ya another post of things I am obsessed with. I did a post like this a while ago.

I feel like it's time to do one again!

{1} Edamame. I eat at least 3 times a week in my lunch. I buy the frozen ones (still on pod) the separate into a baggie for lunch. I dip them into low sodium soy sauce. NOMNOM. I don't like mine warmed, so i just eat them defrosted from the fridge. #healthywin

{2} Looking at DIY projects to do this summer. These are a few I wanna do..(yes a few are repeats bc i haven't gotten to them yet.

{3} The fact that in LESS than a month I will be on the beach. eeeeek :)

{4} Getting another tattoo. I have finally decided what I I just need to do it..

{5} Orange is the New Black. LOVEEEEEE. the new season comes out in a few weeks so D & I are re-watching the first season and i forgot how addicting it is!!!

Do you creep? {and why I don't}

Good Morning Dolls!

Thank God Wednesday is here! I am so glad it's here.

mostly because I get a rest day :) #bum
BUT also because I am that much closer to a relaxing weekend with my love and good friends.

but what brings me here to you today is something that i saw on 'Girl Code' (yes it's on MTV and yes I like to watch it while i run because sometimes Bravo has movies during cardio time)

they topic was creeping on your significant other. aka snooping

I have heard and seen many of my friends snoop. They look through phones with the guy walks out of the room. They read texts over shoulders, they go through every picture ever posted anywhere. They scroll through months/years of wall posts etc etc.

Have I been guilty of a few of these.

I have looked through D's pics on facebook and looked at his about me/wall.
once or twice.

*note- i have never and will never look through a guys phone/email/texts etc*

Many girls say they do it to 'be on the safe side' or to get a better idea what their guy is doing. For me it all boils down to trust. If you feel the need to creep or snoop there is (do not deny it) a level of distrust.

I trust D.
with everything. especially the most precious thing i have.
my heart. 

I don't need to creep or look over his shoulder when his phone lights up because i know i have nothing to worry about. I know that if i ever did go through his phone I trust I'd find nothing. Now I am not saying this to brag, but that is the kind of relationship i want and I would assume most girls want as well.

Many girls I know creep at the beginning stages of a relationship. I have been there with multiple friends combing through FB pics. It was a fun bonding moment. but looking back & when I really think about it, that ruins everything. You are not learning about this new person authentically. You are forming opinions, finding out things that you could have learned organically instead of behind a computer screen.

Plus seeing a post from another girl within a few weeks of dating is going to make you CRAZY when there is ZERO reason most likely to be.

Don't get me wrong, many guys are Dbags. I get it. I have been hurt by a-holes in the past too. Girls justify snooping to protect themselves, but the second you feel the need to snoop...that should be a red flag  that maybe this isn't the relationship for you.

Stop creeping.
Trust your intuition on your guy and live your life.
If he turns out to be a jerk, move on to the next!

UGH, i freaking hate mondays.
upside, I only have 1 more after today until summer vacay :)
thank god.

anyways I had a packed weekend and really wishing I had another day to sleep in.

I want to say a very happy mother's day to my wonderful mother who i actually get to spend today with finally :)

Now my workout were not on point this week. I won't lie. I only worked out THREE DAYS this week. I know that's not how I will reach my goals. But I'm back on track for next week! I have already meal planned & when I get back to Springfield I am going to meal prep.

Ps still running three straight miles though  :)

Time Flies

My dearest and only sister graduates from college tomorrow.

when did i get so old that my little sister is about to be a functioning adult in society?

I am so proud of her and I cannot wait to see what  she will accomplish. In just a few short months she will be heading back to school to get her graduate degree and I couldn't be more excited.

Congrats my little one! I cannot wait to see you walk across the stage tomorrow!!
