Headed to Boot camp

Good Morning Friends!

I guess I decided not show up all week...
things have been busy and I have honestly been so exhausted plus having nothing to write about makes for a very absent blogger.

anyways I am back today to share the new healthy thing I tried. One of my resolutions is to do something new for my health each week.

This week I started a new fitness avenue.

Boot camp.

I will go once a week (wednesdays- which is usually my rest day from the gym). A few teachers in my district showed interest and we got a personal trainer to come hold boot camp for an hour twice a week. (like I said i will only be going once, because I still want to hit the gym on Mondays).

I had my first one last night.
holy cow. There was lots of cardio and total body lifting.
I was huffing and puffing and really felt like it was a great workout.

I have never really done anything like this and I am excited to see how this program starts to change my body along with continuing my gym time. I have become to routine with my workouts and I need to mix it up. I hope this helps.

Anyone else done boot camp before?

Breathe. Rest.

Well i'm sick.
well was sick, but feeling better actually.

I have always heard people saying 'Listen to your body' 'Rest when you need to' blah blah. and I am over here like "girl, I have never get sick! Like ever"

because I don't. I will get tummy issues or a headache but as far as colds, flus, etc---I don't get them. Until I did.

and it sucked.
a lot.

I mean HELLO I have a cruise to go on in like 110 days and I do not have time to be sick. I need to be grinding at the gym and burning those cals because I have to be in a swim suit. I do not have time to be on the couch.

BUT, uggggh. When I end up feeling 3593877 x worse after going...that might be a sign.
So I took a rest day. or two this week. I was not happy about it by any means. I was cranky and felt like missing a day I was going to slide backward and not get that bikini bod I want. I beat myself up about it.

yeah I  am crazy. But that is how my mind works. I had to tell myself that missing the gym one or two days was not going to send me spiraling backwards. I needed to rest so I can make the most of my workouts in a few days and not prolong the sickness.

So my 'healthy' choice this week was to rest. My body really needed it and now hopefully I can get back at it and kill those workouts!

Well the snow rolled in.

The I should be at school. My four day weekend is over.
except now it's a 5 day weekend because we got snow Sunday & Monday.

a lot. So since I work in a district that has many rural areas, school was closed today.

SO here I am on the couch.
The roads were so bad that D got off yesterday, so we laid around yesterday thus no blog was up.

So here is my weekend recap

I got my Vday nails done in the morning. Then my friend and I went to Branson to do a little shopping and lunch. It was the last nice day and we really enjoyed it.

This is what I came home to when we got done shopping :) D was sneaky and came home on his lunch break and had these waiting for me! A little early vday present #mushy

We got up and headed to the gym to get in a Valentine's workout.  (true life: I have been slacking on my gym selfie game) I of course wore a bright pink neon.

Then D & I went out to run errands and enjoyed the sunny day (it was was SOOOOO windy) but I treated him to a vday lunch
um hi, yum. Strawberry Hill Chicken Salad.

D & I headed to our fave Italian restaurant for dinner. (side note---it was AH-MAZING)

I woke up super sick. Stuffy nose, extremely sore throat and a crazy cough. So i laid in bed all day. And when I say all day, I mean I literally got up for an hour to watch an episode of scandal (one of out new shows) with D, shower and then make a little toast.

that's it. The rest of the time I was sleeping, or just laying there. Not fun.

I felt a bit better. I had been taking some meds so my throat was much better but still stuffy nose and cough.

See my spirits are a bit lifted, mostly because D just found out he didn't have to go work.

D and I ventured out to Walmart to grocery shop and actually made it to the gym. It was SOOOO empty, it was glorious. I was still feeling a bit puny so inclined walked  for 45 minutes and when i say incline walked, holy cow..the amount of cals I burned just by having that incline was insane. I also did arms and shoulders. It was not my best/hardest workout, BUT it was something and I feel better knowing I went!

Alrighty, that is it.
How was your tuesday?

5 on Friday

I'm WAHOOO it is friday.
and I am off work.

yup this girl has a 4 day weekend. In my district we don't get a 'spring break' week off. We get a 4 day weekend in February, March, and April. Which is actually fine by me!  It's not like I am going anywhere so, having a 4 day weekends to look forward to each month is wonderful.

I am sleeping in then heading to the gym. This afternoon Krysta and I are heading to Branson to do a little shopping! I am so excited, plus it's pay day.

anyways I am here to share my 5 on this wonderful Friday

1. These bad boys.

I picked them up and I am obsessed. I have loved Lara Bars for a while, but this flavor is perfection.

2. This tumbler!

I am obsessed. One of my girls in my class gave it to me for Valentine's day.

3. I did it. I wore shorts to the gym.

WHAT? uh yeah that is a #NSV fasho. (granted i did stairs, there was NO running in shorts...but shorts at the gym is STILL a big deal)

4. There is only 115 days left until the cruise :)
AKA I need to stay away from all the candy I got from our Valentine's party.

5. The weather. Today is suppose to be the last nice day for a while! Accumulating snow is in the forecast for monday/tuesday... maybe we will get our first snow day? I am honestly to the point that I am past wanting one so that we can get out earlier in May.....but that is just me. ;)

have a good friday friends!!!

Mixing it up

So I am back this week to share my healthy choice this week.

I am all about trying to step out of my comfort zone/the usual routine this year...or should I say I am trying to be be all about it!

So this past Sunday (as some of you know if you saw this post) that D & I skipped the gym and headed to the woods to hike. The weather was just too gorgeous to justify being inside. We headed out to a conservation land about 30 minutes outside of springfield.

There was no one else out there and we just walked and hiked around. I know I wasn't burning as many calories and I would have at the gym but I am glad I stepped out of the gym and got out there and did something different. It was really nice and I enjoyed the weather & being with my honey.

A few pictures I snapped on the hike.

What are you trying to be a healthier you?

Weekend Happenings

yes it is tuesday.
yes this is a weekend recap.

I am behind, I know. But this weekend was too wonderful to be sitting on my computer.
The weather was amazing, like I thought we fast forwarded 3 months to spring. It was incredible.

Usually my weekends fly by and i always think "wow, where did it go?" I of course wish it could have been longer, but it was just such  a great weekend & I got a lot done.

Was a looooooon day. SO after D & I went to the gym we headed out to dinner with a few friends. After dinner we went to a local coffee shop and played games.

Too cute not to take a picture of (Hazelnut latte)

We were up bright & early so I could get my long run in ( 5.5 miles--which i felt was pretty easy so I will be upping my speed this weekend) and then headed out for a day of running errands.

I treated D to lunch at Chili's. This grilled chicken sandwhich is off their 'lite' menu and was SOOOO good and so filling.

I also may have spent WAYYYY to much at Ulta.

Saturday night was a chill night in. I worked on school stuff & snuggled with D. I am still OBSESSED with those Dole dippers. 100 cals for chocolate covered bananas? Sign me up.

D & i slept in. It was glorious. We took a break from the gym and decided since the weather was unbelievable we would go hike. We drove out to some conservation land. It was gorgeous.

I also shot  gun for the first time. I was scary, but great. D said I actually did pretty good :)
I cannot wait until it is actually spring and there is green trees and grass to look at.

That is it!
How was your weekend? Do you guys have good weather?

Green Tea {yay or nay}

Good Morning friends!!

It is a bitter cold day here in Springfield. A wintery mix blew in last night. Not much accumulation, but still freeeezing. BUT it is suppose to be 70 degrees on saturday..

yeah only in Missouri.

Anyways I wanted to bring you another post about a new healthy 'thing' i am doing. I have said before that each week i want to try at least one new healthy thing, to make this year my best year yet.

I have always been a tea drinker, well at least an extra sweet tea drinker. While it tastes good, it is not helping me get rid of my muffin top. So as I was browsing my local organic store I wandered over to the tea section. Which let me tell you is really overwhelming! I stood there for like 10 minutes trying to decide.

I eventually picked out a pomegranate raspberry green tea. I know green tea has so many benefits so I thought I would try it out and let me tell you. LOVE.

of course I wish it was sweeter, but I actually do enjoy it. Personally I like it really hot, once it gets cooler/room temp I am not a fan of it so much.

Any tea suggestions? I want to try more.

How are you being healthy this week?

Italian Chicken {Easy Crock-Pot Recipe}

So I am day late with this post, but life as per usual has been so busy. I feel like all i do is work, gym, eat, sleep these days.

BUT today is my rest day, first one since last Wednesday and I am ready to soak it in. Well... I am working late but knowing I do not have to rush home to get to the gym is relaxing. I also took tomorrow off. I have a doctors appointment in the early afternoon so I just took the whole day. I cannot wait to sleep in!

Anyways back to todays post--

This is one of dave and mine's favorite meals and of course it is another crock pot meal because HELLO, easy peasy!

Italian chicken

4-6 chicken breasts (I used frozen) and I only put 3 in because they were huge
Red Potatoes (quartered or halved depending on size)
One Yellow Onion
1 bottle of Italian Dressing (doesn't matter the brand, but the Olive Garden bottle is AMAZING)
1 cup of water

Put everything in the crock pot.
Dump the whole bottle of dressing and cup of water over the meat and veggies.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
(I know it is blurry, I didn't realize until I went to post it)

So easy, so hearty and no guilt!

Linking up with my fave!
