First Birthdays & Concerts

Hello there!!

So I know I am day late on the whole weekend recap but my Dad & Sister surprised me yesterday morning by coming into town for the day so I didn't have time to write this post.

We had a GREAT weekend. Saturday was busy busy and then Sunday was PURE relaxation. Those are my favorite kind of weekends!

So yesterday evening D & I met with our photographer, and YES we picked one! D is faxing over the contract today and we will invoice the deposit tonight I believe.

5 things {Wedding Venue}

Happy Friday!!

So I am about to head out to go run a few errands before this weekend get started but I thought I'd pop in & share my Friday 5 with you!

We picked our wedding venue!! EEEEK :) I am so so excited about it. I sent the contract and the deposit on Wednesday so I guess it is not official official until the owner signs in but she did write us down reserved our date which will be...

September 10, 2016

AHHHH :) I am so overly excited. It is definitely further out than we wanted BUT it just gives me more time to plan and save for our dream wedding. Here is a few snap shots I took while we did a tour. We will hopefully have an outdoor ceremony with the reception indoors. There is PLENTY of room/2 options for an indoor ceremony in case of bad weather.

We are about 3/4 of the way done with Orange is the New Black (we just finished episode 10) and I am not that thrilled with this season. One I find a lot of it boring, Piper is pissing me off more than usual (she is SUPER annoying this season) and then I was just really disgusted with episode 10 (the one mostly about Pensatucky) I know this is a show about women in prison, but I watch this show for enjoyment but I was pretty sickened by that episode...

Yesterday i was VERY productive and cleaned out my closet and dresser. I have so many things that are just too big that I repeatedly tell myself 'oh I can make this work' but in reality I cannot. They are just too big/not working for me. So I cleaned a BUNCH out. Some things are going to my sister and others I am going to try and sell to Plato's Closet. I know they won't take much (helllooo i used to work there) but I am gonna be on the side of town so I thought, why not?

That blue tote is FULL and that is just one stack going to my sister

I got ring back Wednesday from being sized but had to take it back yesterday because the diamonds are loose. I guess when you size down so drastically (originally a size 7, D got it size to 5 1/4 which was still to big and I had to have it sized to a 4) that the prongs are loosened, WELL they didn't tighten them back up...so now i must wait a WHOLE more week before I get it back. I know it's totally first world problems, BUT I really want to wear it...

TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY WE ARE HEADING HOME!! I cannot wait to see my family (I haven't seen them since we got engaged) and I am SO excited!!

happy friday!!

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Monday friends!
There is still sunshine here in ole Missouri. I am so glad to have this sun because the last two weeks has been nothing but clouds and rain!

We are going to look at one of our venues today!! EEEK :) This one will be our top pick and we are so excited. I had a mini meltdown on Friday because originally we wanted to get married next June as soon as school was out for me...but EVERYTHING is booked. Like everything. Venues and Photographers are booked all next spring into June and July. WHAT??? So it's looking like late August/September will be when we say the 'I Do's' but I have come to peace with it & I am fine. Still pretty anxious about getting things  booked etc but hopefully within the next few days we will have things nailed down.

ONTO the weekending

I was up early sipping on coffee and working on a few clean up things on my computer.
I hit the gym for double cardio {Stairs & Treadmill}
OOTD--Shorts & Vneck from Old Navy
Friday night I meant a few teacher friends for happy hour and then headed for patio date night with D. I got a turkey burger {sans bun} with the best fries in town.

D & I slept in and decided to take a rest day from the gym and then ran errands.
HOLY strawberries. We wandered into SAMs and for these gorgeous babies. They are so dang good!
We also HAD to enjoy the sun and laid about by the pool for a little while.
We binge watched Sons of Anarchy but took a quick sonic break for Green Apple Slushies with Nerds. {YUM!}

Sunday was of course Father's Day. We headed to the gym pretty early. My dad is in STL so after I called to wish him a Happy Father's Day we got ready & headed to lunch with D's family!

All the heart eyes for this boy.

After lunch we headed to his parents house for dessert and to hang out out

This cutie came over {D's neice} and we got to play with the little munchkin :)

That was about it. Hope you guys had a wonderful Weekend!

Cruise 2015 recap {picture overload}

Happy Friday!!!

I am here to FINALLY share my recap of our cruise. I tried to include as many pictures as possible because let's be real, that is what most people wanna see. I tried to divide it up a little bit.

(If you have any questions about cruises etc, let me know)

New Orleans

We had dinner with Cody's family & i tried oysters for the first time. The top right is a view from our room on Bourbon Street. The little streets in NOLA are gorgeous.

This was just us enjoying New Orleans before we left for the cruise. I love the city and I want to go back!

The Cruise

Top Left was the view from our door. Our room was a lot bigger than I expected. D & i exploring the boat and the gorgeous atrium. Our towel animals were always a fave. Jen was on the boats game show and came in second!

Drinks & swimsuits filled our first full afternoon and then we had the formal night with pictures on the stairs etc.

Wednesday was our first port day ( & the day we got engaged!) So the pictures above are just a few shots from Cozumel.

Snorkeling was a blast and then the second column is pictures from our second port in Progresso.
The little tiki huts were so cute at our Progresso stop. Jen's birthday was Thursday so they came and sang to her. We LOVED laying out on the "Serenity Deck" which was an adults only area (21 & up) at night. It was always gorgeous out.

Here are a few more random pictures of laying out and other parts of the boat along with a beautiful sunset.

(the food was amazing on the boat. These are just a few pictures of the formal dining room dinners & desserts)

There was mini recap. I truly enjoyed this trip and I will definitely be sailing again. I think we might try Royal Caribbean next time. We did enjoy Carnival but I think we would like to travel with another cruise line next!

Enjoy your weekend!!!

Engagement Story

I am here today to share how D and I got engaged. I still cannot believe I get to say I am engaged. It is a surreal feeling & I definitely not taking it for granted. I am still smiling ear to ear

Okay so basically on our cruise we had 2 port days aka we get to get off the boat & go explore. Our first day was at Puerta Maya in Cozumel, Mexico. We had decided on that day we wanted to do an excursion. So D, I, Krysta & Zach booked a snorkel/beach day. (Jen & Cody went to swim with the dolphins). SO basically as soon as we go off the boat we boarded this catamaran with about 40ish other people and we sailed about 10-15 minutes away from where the ship was docked to snorkel. It was SO FUN. I was not the best at it (i got lots of water in my tube and salt in my eyes, but I eventually got the hang of it---but it was so neat and I cannot wait to do it again) We snorkeled for about 40-45 minutes then we headed back to the catamaran and headed to a private beach about 20 minutes away.

When we were on the catamaran D was acting kinda sickly. He does get motion sickness from time to time so I didn't think much of his upset tummy more than just the rocking of the boat. (he later told me he was so nervous) Once we reached the beach we played in the water. The company that we went through had HUGE inflatables in the water. Like slides, obstacle courses etc. They also had huge floating mats to lay out. So we did that then we headed to the tiki hut for lunch. While we were sitting at lunch there were some larger shells on the ground that D & I picked up. So when we headed back for our beach chairs, D mentioned walking down the beach to see what we could see. I assumed he wanted to look for more shells because he brought this little dry bag (basically a bag he uses for when he kayaks etc that even it gets dropped in the river/submerged everything will stay dry). So we walked a bit and then we stopped and he said he wanted pictures of me on the beach (later i found out he just wanted an excuse to open the bag which had the ring in it)

So after he snapped a few pictures he hugged me and said

'baby i want you to be mine forever' and I of course said back 'I am yours forever silly' then he stepped back and dropped to one knee and said--

'I really want you to be mine forever. Will you marry me?'

I was in complete shock. I stood there with my hands over my mouth just nodding my head and shaking. I finally yelled "YES!!" and then we hugged and kissed and just like that we were engaged.

It was perfect and I am so very excited to marry this man! I cannot wait to share the journey of planning with you guys. We do not have any plans yet of course but as soon as we start planning stuff I will keep you guys posted :)

I'm back!!!

I am back from my vacay and I have finally gotten all laundry & luggage unloaded, washed, dried and put away.

I got my grocery shopping in and I am ready to get back to a somewhat schedule!

Here a just a few tidbits---

This was the boat we sailed on. It was the Carnival Elation. I will share a whole recap of the trip later this week. It was a great time and I LOVE cruising!

For those of you who do not follow me on IG (sarah71389) you may not know but..

D proposed when we were in Mexico and I am completely and utterly so ecstatic! I plan on doing a whole proposal story (most likely tomorrow) to let you know how it all went down. To say I am obsessed with my ring, well that would be an understatement!

We embarked from New Orleans and I loved it!! We got in Sunday morning and the spent the day exploring and eating and checking out this city. There were so many gorgeous roads/streets and areas. I won't lie though, some parts were a bit..yikes. BUT then again any major city you will get that. We stayed right on the corner of Bourbon Street and Canal street. I will definitely want to go  back someday!

I am back in the gym and I won't lie I missed it. I got in 4 workouts for the 7 days we were gone, but my eating..well let's just say it saw no bounds. I am only up about 2ish pounds, which is WAY better than I thought I would be. I didn't track at all on my fitness pal but I am back to it Back to the grind.

ALSO, I am going to start being more specific with my food and more conscious of what I am putting in my body. I would like to document/track. I am thinking a food post. Not every meal or even everyday photos, just something to keep me on track/give others ideas of meals to try.

Anyways Happy Tuesday!

5 things on Friday

OKAY had to get that out! Tomorrow morning we are heading down to New Orleans. We are staying with Cody's mom & are planning to explore NOLA on Sunday then we set sail MONDAY!

I literally am so bursting with excitement! I am 90% packed. I need to make a quick target run/Aldi's run (for trail mix nuts) and then I will be good to go. I packed most of my stuff including my carry on yesterday.

Krysta & I are heading out  to get our nails & toes done at noon but before I go I wanted to share a few things

oh em gee.
first of all--- jax teller.

second, we are obsessed with this show. It is so dang good. It is pretty lude and a bit graphic (which usually turns me off from shows) but i LOVE this show.

{2} Baked Blushes. I ran into forever 21 the other night & grabbed this gem.

I have tried a few of f21 products, they are actually okay for what you pay for them. I am excited to try it out. I swatched it & it seemed pretty pigmented.

{3} I am actually pretty proud of myself because my suitcase is NOT busting at the seams. Your girl can pack...well this time. I know I over packed, but it all fit & i didn't have to sit on my suitcase to make it close. win?

{4} ORANGE IN THE NEW BLACK. season three premiers next friday!! AHHHH :) D has told me that we will NOT being paying for wifi to watch, rude. But you know I will be binging when I get back.

{5} Our apartment pool IS NOT OPEN YET. WTF??? I wanted to layout this week, but alas it doesn't even have a drop.

anyways this will be my last post until I get back! Have a great weekend & I'll see you in a week!!
Happy Friday!!!

Big Mac Attack {skinny recipe}

Good Morning Friends!

So most of you know I have pretty much sword off fast food (18 months without as of yesterday) and some days I crave it.

but I am not about to give up on my goals for a quick fix. However, I am always looking for dupes for 'comfort food'. When I came across this recipe on instagram, I knew I had to check it out.

Thus i give you Big Mac Attack.

1 lb of lean ground beef (I used 97/3--- so extra lean)
1 onion
6-8 American Singles
1 tube of light/reduced fat crescent rolls
Dill Pickles (however many you like)
Sesame Seeds

1. Soften onions in a large skillet over medium heat. After they have cooked down a bit, add in ground beef to brown. After it is browned add in pickles and mix.

2. In a 9x13 pan layer mixture along bottom and then layer cheese on top

3. Roll out crescent rolls (do not break apart) over cheese & mixture. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of rolls.

4. Bake for about 15-17 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.

4. Serve with a side. (i used green beans) I also added Thousand Island on the side.

This is the brand I used. (found at walmart & all organic)

Enjoy this healthier alternative :)

Linking up with my girl Kate for a recipe swap!

7 days + Sno Cones

Good Morning!!

it is another dreary day in Missouri. It has been rainy/overcast for pretty much the last week. I am over it.... Bring on the sun!

Speaking of sun....

7 days til we set sail!!!!!!! AHHHH :) I seriously cannot freakin wait! I am hoping this week doesn't drag by. I am sure it's gonna, but I have a few things to get done so hopefully I will stay busy!

Well I guess since it's Monday I'll share my weekend---

D & I went to dinner with Jen & Cody because Cody's brother was in town. We also headed to a little hole in the wall bar for a little after.
For a hole in the wall it had a LEGIT selfie mirror...so obviously we had to take one!

We slept in, it was much needed. Then we ran some errands. We stopped at this smoothie shop & I got a green smoothie (Kale, spinach, mango & banana + stevia & ice) YUMMM!

We also stopped by the mall. D wanted to look at MC sports so I wandered around Pennys & Forever.
This was my OOTD

We also went to dinner with his parents & sister that night. I was too busy playing with his niece to take pictures. I am seriously obsessed with her.

We slept in again...but it was seriously so nice. I made breakfast & D watched this documentary about Vanderbilt, Carnegie, & Rockefeller. I colored. HAHA :)

We went to the gym because the mexican from the night before made me NEED some cardio.
Then I came back, watched Harry Potter on ABC family...#always

SNO cones were had, the first ones of the season :)

Then we grilled out with Jen & Cody and dreamed about the cruise!! EEEEK!

Anyways, there you have it! How was your weekend?
